Water-based Epoxy Fast-Drying Curing Agent YD-168

YD-168 is a water-based epoxy hardener modified with polyether amine. The most notable feature of YD-168 is that it can be sanded 10-13 hours after application of the primer and water-based epoxy mortar at low temperatures of 5°C (which differs from the E-51 system, as it is not from the same emulsion system). It has excellent adhesion properties and leaves a dry surface. The initial hardness and strength develop quickly, and it has a low odor and low VOC content. It does not contain volatile solvents such as toluene, xylene, or butyl ether; instead, it uses water as a solvent, making it easily dilutable with water and environmentally friendly, significantly improving the working conditions for operators. Additionally, YD-168 emulsifies low to medium molecular weight epoxy resins well, is easy to work with, and has excellent adhesion to substrates. This hardener can be applied in humid environments, making it suitable for the application of primer and topcoat in epoxy flooring, addressing issues such as blistering caused by moisture in the paint film. It is particularly well-suited for ground painting in food, pharmaceutical, electronics factories, cosmetics factories, underground parking lots, etc. After finishing the application, tools can be easily cleaned with water.

PROPERTY

  • Fast curing at low temperatures, good adhesion.
  • Low odor, low VOC.
  • Easy to paint.

APPLICATIONS

Used for ground painting in food, pharmaceutical, electronics factories, cosmetics factories, underground parking lots, etc.

The experimental ratios for the above points 1 and 2 are as follows: YD-168/YD-128 = 60/40. For point 3, the experimental ratio is also 1 YD-168/YD-128 = 60/40. After stirring thoroughly, a 50μm paint film was prepared on a tin plate and naturally cured for 7 days. The adhesion was tested using the cross-cut test method. Point 4 refers to the weight of volatile organic compounds contained in 1L of the waterborne epoxy
hardener (theoretical value).

RECOMMENDED APPLICATION

Recommended Applications of YD-168 for Water-based Epoxy Primer

YD-168/YD-128/Water =3/2/3
First, dilute YD-168 with water at 1:1 ratio and stir well. Then, mix it thoroughly with YD-128 epoxy resin at 3:1 ratio. The viscosity should be appropriate for application on the pre-treated surface. Use the mixed material in a timely manner to prevent gelation, which can render the material unusable. Do not add too much water; excessive dilution may lead to decreased chemical resistance of the paint film and slower development of hardness, resulting in project delays. Before application, ensure the surface is free from oil, dust, and water stains, and then proceed with roller application or troweling.

Recommended Application 2 of YD-168 for Water-based Epoxy Primer

YD-168/128/Water = 1.5/1/2.5

First, dilute YD-168 with water at a 1.5:1.5 ratio and stir well. Then, mix it thoroughly with 128 epoxy resin at a 3:1 ratio. Finally, add one part of water and stir until uniform. The viscosity should be appropriate for application on the pre-treated surface. Use the mixed material in a timely manner to prevent gelation, which can render the material unusable.

Recommended Application of YD-168 for Water-based Epoxy Mortar

YD-168/128/Water/Fine Sand = 3/2/3/Appropriate amount of sand

First, dilute YD-168 with water at a 1:1 ratio and stir well. Then, mix it with 128 epoxy resin at a 3:1 ratio, and add an appropriate amount of fine sand while stirring until uniform. Use a notched trowel for application. Remember that the amount of water added in the mortar should not be excessive, and it is essential to strictly adhere to the mixing ratios. Address any substrate issues such as fine cracks, dust, expansion joints, and small pits before application, and ensure proper interlayer sanding to improve adhesion.

STORAGE

It should be sealed in the original packaging container, prohibited from direct sunlight, and prohibited from high temperature places.
